Perfect for a free afternoon, an evening after sessions, or anyone who wants to experience Denver without venturing too far from conference basecamp.
- Denver Union Station + LoDo — Start with one of Denver’s great gathering places, then wander Lower Downtown for restaurants, shops, historic architecture, and people-watching. Explore Union Station
- Larimer Square — Denver’s historic first block is an easy downtown wander with dining, shopping, lights, and plenty of atmosphere. Check out Larimer Square

Venture Beyond Basecamp

Have half a day? Expand the map.
- Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre — This one belongs near the top. You don’t need concert tickets to appreciate the sandstone formations, trails, views, amphitheatre, and Visitor Center. Daytime admission and parking are free during public access hours, although the amphitheatre can close early on concert days. Plan a Red Rocks visit
- Meow Wolf Denver's Convergence Station — Possibly the most Uncharted attraction in Denver. It’s an immersive, nonlinear art experience filled with surreal environments, hidden stories, and 70+ rooms to explore. In other words: wander into the unknown and see what happens. - Denver Botanic Gardens — Twenty-four acres of gardens and collections make this a slower, greener reset after a few days of conference energy. Explore the Gardens
- Denver Zoo + City Park — Pair wildlife with one of Denver’s signature urban parks. Online timed tickets are currently required for non-members at the zoo. Plan your zoo visit
- Denver Museum of Nature & Science — Dinosaurs, space, science, Colorado natural history, and great City Park views. Explore the museum
- Golden — Trade the city grid for Clear Creek, mountain views, historic downtown, hiking, museums, and breweries. It’s close enough for a half-day but feels distinctly different from downtown Denver. Discover Golden

- Rocky Mountain National Park — Alpine lakes. Elk. Tundra. Trail Ridge Road. Big mountain scenery. This is the classic Colorado day trip and absolutely deserves “flagship expedition” status. Plan your Rocky Mountain National Park adventure
Important Fieldnote: the conference is September 16–18, and RMNP’s timed-entry system is in effect during the post-conference weekend. In 2026, regular Timed Entry is required from 9 a.m.–2 p.m. through October 12, while Timed Entry + Bear Lake Road is required from 5 a.m.–6 p.m. through October 18. Timed entry reservations are required. Some inventory is released at 7 PM the night before, so plan ahead. Check timed-entry requirements
- Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Center — Colorado Springs — Towering red sandstone formations against Pikes Peak make this one of those “yes, Colorado actually looks like this” destinations. Garden of the Gods itself is a free city park and National Natural Landmark. Plan your Garden of the Gods visit
- Pikes Peak — An easy pairing with Garden of the Gods for a full Colorado Springs expedition. Drive the highway or investigate the cog railway depending on how much adventure you want in your adventure. Explore Pikes Peak

Colorado rewards the prepared explorer. Check weather and road conditions before heading into the mountains. Bring water, sunscreen, layers, and shoes made for wandering. Mountain weather changes quickly, elevation is real, and some destinations require advance tickets or reservations.
